Wade Lee Barbee, 83, of Richfield, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021.
Wade was born October 28, 1937 in Stanly County to the late Lee Barbee and Minnie Luncida Smith Barbee. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Carrie Jeanette Deese Barbee, who passed away July 30, 2020; and brother, Lewis Barbee.
The family graveside service to celebrate his life will be at 11:00 am on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Richfield Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Ruth Ann Sipe. He will lie in state on Sunday from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle.
He is survived by his son, Darnell Barbee of Richfield; sister, Mildred (Jerry) Vanhoy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wade was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, and uncle. He retired from Collins & Aikman as a truck driver. He was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. Wade formerly served as mayor and council member for the town of Richfield, and was also past president of the Stanly County Saddle Club.
