Wade Nelson Carter, Jr., 68, of Concord, N.C., passed away  Friday, June 11, 2021 at home, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness.

Born Jun 14, 1952 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, Wade was the son of Wade Nelson Carter, Sr. and the late Frances Mae (Hodge) Carter.

He graduated from Central Cabarrus High School in 1970 and worked many years as a Commercial Construction Superintendent.

Wade had a lifelong passion for bow hunting; he achieved the title of Master Instructor from the International Bowhunter Education program and was a founding member of the Cabarrus Bowhunters.
He delighted in teaching children the skill of archery.

Wade never met a stranger, and the world has lost a dear friend for all who knew him, and a true future friend for many.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 18, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Hartsell Funeral Home, Harrisburg, NC, officiated by the Rev. Dr. David Snow. The family will receive callers immediately following the service at the home of Trey and Lacy Carter.

Mr. Carter is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Sharon (Hartsell) Carter of the home, daughter Beth McMahan (Dwayne), son Trey (Lacy Caputo), grandchildren Morgan and Adam Rivers, Collin, Cameron and Kennedy Carter, great grandchildren Braxton Gaddis and Nora Rivers, and sister Debbie (Mark Cagle). He was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Carter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hands of a Sportsman, 9820 Castor Road, Salisbury, N.C., 28146.

The family would like to extend thanks for the kindness and care extended to Mr. Carter by Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County & Tucker Hospice House staff.
