Wade Russell

Wade Hampton Russell, age 90 of Albemarle, NC, passed away on October 27, 2011 at his home. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 31, 2011, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Hartsell Funeral Home. Rev Jim Yow will officiate. The burial will be Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Fairview Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the Stanly County DAV Chapter 12. Mr. Russell was born in Stanly County on April 5, 1921 to the late Wade Hampton Russell, Sr. and the late Emma Kettle Napier Russell. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen Lisk Russell, of the home; son, Kent Russell and his wife Jane of Apex, NC; daughter, Mary Ann R. Gantt and her husband Jim of Albemarle; grandchildren, Karen Whipkey and her husband Mitch of Garner, NC, Rod Russell and his wife Michelle of Brunswick, GA, and Aaron Gantt of Winston-Salem, NC. Mr. Russell served his country in the US Army Air Corps during the Korean conflict. A former Board member of Central United Methodist Church, he was also a member of the Albemarle Optimist Club. Mr. Russell was a retired electrical operator at Alcoa in Badin, NC. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Russell family.
