Walter Harvell

Walter Lee Harvell, 89 years of age, of Locust, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012 at his home. Mr. Harvell was born October 8, 1922 in Cabarrus County to the late John Monroe Harvell and Maggie Munson Harvell. He was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Jonathan Taylor. He was a retired cabinet maker with Eudy’s Cabinet Shop in Locust. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will be in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m., officiated by Rev. Richard Collins. Burial will follow in the Community Baptist, Church Cemetery at 818 North Central Avenue in Locust. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Willie Christine Efird Harvell, of the home; his daughters, Dianne Taylor and her husband, L. J., of Locust, Willie Rose Thompson, of Monroe, and Rebecca Lynne Gardner and her husband, Danny, of Locust; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, and one step-great-great granddaughter. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Harvell family.
