Waureen Thompson

Waureen J. Thompson passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was 86 years old.

Waureen was born July 2, 1932 in Cottageville, South Carolina to the late Wilbur and Natherlee Spell.

In 1940, Waureen's family moved to Scott Township, Pennsylvania where she graduated from Scott Township High School. She worked in the bookkeeping department at Lane Concrete Company before meeting Paul Thompson in Carnegie, Pennsylvania. They were married during the summer of 1964. Waureen and Paul moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where they raised her two daughters, Carla and Kristal. Waureen was a wonderful wife, mother and friend to many.

Waureen moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2012 to be closer to her grandchildren.

Waureen was preceded by her parents, beloved husband, Paul; three sisters Ruthie, Vivian and Maxine and three brothers Lee, Lloyd and Unie.

The family will receive friends from 11 - 11:45 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home, 12115 University City Blvd., Harrisburg, NC  28075. The funeral service will be on  Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 12 p.m. (noon) at Hartsell Funeral Home.

Waureen's beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her sister Mary Mosby, her daughters, Carla Thompson and partner Joan Lockwood, Kristal Perry and husband Brian Perry; grandchildren, Brian Jr., Courtney, Hasan, Hannah, Asija and Randi; great grandchildren, Aamiya, Stephon, Kailyn, Skylar, Miles, Madison, Zion and Harmani; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends.

The family would like to specially thank her son-in-law, Brian Perry and the Humana Hospice Team for all of their guidance, love and support during our time of need.
