Wayne Wellmon, Jr.

Wayne Kenneth Wellmon, 63, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at his residence in Charlotte.

Mr. Wellmon was born September 24, 1958 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Wayne Kenneth Wellmon Sr. and Sylvia Polk Wellmon.

Retired, Wayne served as Security Guard Supervisor in the Dept. of Housing and Residence Life at UNCC for 35 years. He taught Southern style Shaolin Kung-Fu for over 25 years. His school was Ying Lungs School of Chinese WuShu. He relished his walk with Christ, rock hounding for NC gems, the freedom of motorcycles, and playing pencil & paper and online role-playing games. He was a loving husband and son and friend to many. He led by example of being approachable, a great communicator, listener, and giving back to anyone he met. He will be greatly missed.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg in the Jeff Hartsell Memorial Chapel. Following the service the family will receive friends and share memories from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Survivors include mother, Sylvia Wellmon of Charlotte, NC, wife, Christie Buchanan-Wellmon of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Tasha S. Pangburn, son, Brandon B. (Mallory) Wellmon and granddaughter, Trinity Beverly.
