Wayne Rush

Wayne Walter Rush, 83, of Locust, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe.

Wayne was born September 9, 1937 in North Carolina to the late Lacy Walton Rush and the late Carra Madge Rush.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Brenda of 50 years and his sister Trish.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be on Tuesday at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Midland, officiated by Thomas Gibbs. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.  He was a proud navy veteran of 30 years and devoted man of God who loved his church and community.  Wayne was a man who was committed to family and church life.

Survivors include daughter, Tara (Sean) Norton; granddaughter, Angelica (Billy) Moody; grandson, Nathan and granddaughter Kate Cornett; great-grandson, SJ Moody; sister, Madge Tucker, and many beloved nieces and nephews and extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Union County and the Wounded Warriors Project.
