Wayne Smith

Wayne Heath Smith, age 89 of 325 Peachtree Road, Oakboro, NC 28129, passed away on December 02, 2010 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 4th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. At other times the family will receive friends at 423 Peachtree Road, Oakboro, NC. The service will be held Sunday, December 5th at 2:00 PM at Red Cross Baptist Church. Rev. Gary Baker and Rev. Jerry Ingle will officiate the service. He was born October 06, 1921 to the late Burlie and Chloe Smith. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife Jewell Smith. He worked at Cannon Mills as a repair man. He was also a retired farmer and lover of gardening as well as family pets and animals. He also loved all of his close friends that were with him through the years. Mr. Wayne Heath Smith was survived by his daughters Renea Greene and husband Darice of Oakboro, Janet S. Efird and husband Wayland of Oakboro; his sisters, Ruth Efird of Charlotte, Elizabeth Burris of Oakboro; his grandchildren Jeremy Efird of Oakboro, Matthew Greene of Oakboro, Christy Greene of Charlotte, and Hannah Stroupe of Norwood; and his great-granddaughter, Cali May Efird of Oakboro.
