Weldon Thomas

Weldon Ford Thomas, 90, of Midland, NC, passed away early morning on Friday, October 14, 2022 at his residence in Midland, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Thomas was born February 7, 1932 in Madison County, Georgia and was the last surviving child of 8, to the late William Sanford Thomas and the late Lillie Loggins Thomas.He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Clontz Thomas.

He enjoyed family, especially his grandkids, friends, day driving trips to the beach, flashy cars, fishing at the Outer Banks, NASCAR, Beechnut Chewing Tobacco and working at the Car Wash. There is not a person that knew him that doesn’t have their own “Weldon” Story. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and great one-liners. He will be sorely missed.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm, Monday, October 17, 2022 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will follow Monday afternoon at 2:30 pm in The Jack Hartsell Memorial Chapel of the funeral home and will be officiated by Dr. Doyle Holder. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park Kannapolis at Hwy. 29N at I85, Exit 58, Concord, NC.

Survivors include daughter, Lawana McCall and husband, Douglas of Stanfield, NC, daughter, Selina Connell and husband, Butch of Locust, NC;grandchildren, Ryan Ford (Kathie) McCall (his namesake), Alicia (Matthew) Morrow and Kristen Pugh;great-grandchildren, Mason Ford McCall, Dylan Morrow, Lilah Morrow, Jackson Pugh, Maddox Pugh, Haley Kiser, Noah Kiser and Colby Kiser; great-great-grandchild, Brantley Watts; along with a host of Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and Friends.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cabarrus County who tremendously helped during his final days.
