Wiley Whitley

Wiley Edgar “Ed” Whitley, 74, of Midland, passed away Friday, May 13, 2011, at Stanly Manor, Albemarle, NC. Mr. Whitley was born September 7, 1936, in Cabarrus County. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey James Whitley; mother, Annie Pearl Scott Whitley; and sons, Andy and Tim Whitley. He was a supervisor for Whitley Manufacturing in Midland and a member of Community Baptist Church of Locust. The family will receive friends 2 – 4 p.m., Sunday, May 15, at Community Baptist Church, Locust. The funeral will be at 4:00 officiated by Rev. Bruce League with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Graveside military rites will be performed by Stanly County DAV Chapter 12. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Dolores Louvenia Little Whitley, of the home; sons, Scottie Whitley and wife, Anne, of Midland and Buddy Whitley and wife, Penny, of Locust; brother, Marvin Whitley of Stanfield; sister, Betty Morton of Oakboro; grandsons, Josh, Jordan, Tyler, T. J., Landon, and Caleb Whitley; granddaughters, Ashlee Little, Shaina, Jill, Hannah and Rebekah Whitley; and eight great-grandchildren. Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland, is serving the Whitley family.
