Willard Chapman

Willard Franklin “Bill” Chapman, Jr., 64, of Midland, NC, formerly of Charlotte, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center – NorthEast of Concord. Mr. Chapman was born June 22, 1947, in Mecklenburg County. He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Franklin Chapman and mother, Annie Mae Campbell Chapman. Mr. Chapman was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, a supervisor for FedEx in Charlotte and a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Stanfield. The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 p.m. Saturday, August 20, at Friendship Baptist Church of Stanfield. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 officiated by Rev. Clint Lewey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Graveside military rites will be presented by Stanly County DAV Chapter 12. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann Caldwell Chapman, of the home; sons, Hugh Godfrey of Sherrills Ford, Brian Godfrey of Harrisburg, Chris Godfrey of Charlotte, Billy Chapman of Kannapolis, and Jamie Chapman of Charlotte; sister, Sue Miller of Panama City, Florida; grandchildren, Tony, Alex and Matthew Godfrey and Caleb Chapman; and one great-grandchild, Kayden Godfrey.
