Willene "Bill" Simpson

On January 24, 2022, Willene “Bill” Munson Simpson went to be with her heavenly father. If you were fortunate enough to know “Bill”, you know she was the life of the party. Her infectious laughter and beautiful smile lit up the room as soon as she walked in. She had a zest for life that few could match and as soon as you meet her, you loved her.

She was a long-standing member of Rocky River Baptist Church in Concord where she loved to sing God’s praises in the choir and with her gospel quartet, The Joy Tones. For over 25 years, she enjoyed daily luncheons with the Cabarrus County Senior Lunch Plus program. She won numerous awards for her volunteerism with this group and treasured the friendships she made there over the years.

The loves of her life were her five children who survive her today: Rebecca Simpson Freeman (Fred), Ronald Scott Simpson, Patricia Simpson Freeman (Earl), Richard Douglas Simpson (Sharon) Elaine Simpson Lloyd (Dale).  Spending time with her 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren brought her great joy.

Born on June 28, 1924 in Cabarrus County, she was the proud daughter of William Martin Munson and Carrie “Lizzie” Plummer Munson. Her large family included 5 brothers and 6 sisters, one surviving brother, Joe Munson of Concord. As she entered heaven’s gates, her family could almost hear the angels singing, and family and friends who’ve gone before her, welcoming her home.

Please join us in celebrating a life well-lived on Sunday, January 30 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Harrisburg, NC. A visitation at 5:00 pm, with the celebration following at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel.
