William Atkinson

William "Bill" Atkinson, 83 years of age, of Indian Trail, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Hospice House of Union County .

Mr. Atkinson was born May 12, 1931 in Anson County NC to the late Willie and Annie Coley Atkinson . He was also preceded in death by wife, Dorthea "Reat" Atkinson, daughter, Amy Michelle Atkinson, great-grandchild, William Reid Efird.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 Am to 1:00 PM on Monday May 11 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle . The funeral service will follow in Hartsell Funeral Home Lefler's Memorial Chapel at 1:00 PM officiated by Rev. Lee Hammel . Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park

Survivors include daughters, DyAnn (Lynn) Sherrin and Jean (Stan) Efird all of Indian Trail; grandchildren, Rodney (Ashley) Pace of Charleston, SC, Larry (Regina) Dennis of Indian Trail, Amy Atwell of Monroe, Matthew (Vicky) Pace of Fort Mill, SC, Daniel Efird of Indian Trail; great grandchildren, Baylee Hartis, Tyler Dennis, Andrew Stegall, Brianna Efird, Serenity Wiles, Landon Dennis, Barbara Jean Efird,, Emily Pace, Emma Marie Pace, Carter Pace, Shawnee Pace and Boyd Pace.

Bill and Dorthea were life-long residents of Albemarle until they relocated to Indian Trail to be closer to their daughters. They were long-time members of New Hope Baptist Church in Albemarle. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Hospice House of Union County for their compassionate and loving care given to Bill while he was there.
