William Bowers
March 18, 1938 — March 26, 2016
William Loy Bowers, 78 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at his home.
Mr. Bowers was born March 18, 1938 in North Carolina to the late Jack Simmons and the late Josie Eldore Bowers. William was a former college instructor at CPCC and Stanly Community College. He enjoyed traveling on mission trips to Mexico. He also loved to fish, ride horses, and was a well known ping-pong player.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brother, Steve Bowers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at March 30, 2016 at 11:00 am in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle officiated by Rev. Tony Hopkins and Rev. Ronnie Sides. Burial will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.
Survivors include: wife of 54 years, Gerttrue Bowers; sons, Brent and wife Nancee Bowers, and Kris Bowers; grandchildren, Summer Bowers and Liam Bowers; brother, Dwight Bowers; sisters, Kay Clawson, Flora Richardson, and Barbara Foreman.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County and the Uwharrie.
