William Haire

William J. Haire, age 80 of 2713 Patrick Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27608, passed away on August 7, 2011. The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Hartsell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, August 12, 2011 at Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel. Interment will be at Stanly Gardens of Memory. Masonic rites will be provided by Masonic Lodge #703, Albemarle, military rites by Stanly County DAV Chapter 12. Born in Stanly County on March 31, 1931 to the late Joe Benton “Doc” Haire and the late Sarah Elizabeth Cotton Haire. Mr. William J. Haire was also preceded in death by his wife Marlene Lowder Haire, three brothers, James Haire, Pat Haire, Joe Haire and one sister Rebecca Overcash. William Haire was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. He was a 1963 graduate of NC State University with a BS in Civil Engineering and retired from the US Dept. of the Interior’s US Geological Survey in Data Collection & Analysis. He was a past member of the DAV, VFW, American Legion, American Society of Civil Engineering and the Hiram #40 Masonic Lodge. Mr. Haire is survived by his daughters, Lisa Haire and friend Susan Chilton of Efland NC, Kimberly Oliver and husband Mike of Miami FL; grandchildren, John Travis Haire and wife Charlene, Selah Jane Oliver, Emma Sky Oliver and Mary Reign Oliver and one brother, Paul Haire of CA.
