William Herlocker

William Larry Herlocker, 75 years of age, of Badin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

Larry was born August 18, 1940 in Stanly County to William Wade Herlocker and Thyra Elizabeth Harley Herlocker. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Frances Gregory; stepson, Michael Blake; and nephew, Donald Gregory.

The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Joe Smith, will be at 3 pm on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1309 Old Charlotte Rd., Albemarle.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Johnsie Ann Drye Herlocker of the home; daughters, Cynthia Thomason and husband Jeff of Concord, Karen Herlocker and husband John of Badin; son, Louis McSwain of Murfreesboro, TN; grandsons, Chad Melton, Gabriel Kulbe, Jacob Herlocker; granddaughters, Candice and Tiffany Thomason; nephews, William Gregory, Christopher Gregory, and Stacy Gregory.

Larry honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He served during the Vietnam War for five years and 10 months. He retired from Lance, Inc. in Charlotte, where he worked for many years as a truck driver.
