William Johnson

William Jay Johnson, age 79 of 9617 Callis Drive, Harrisburg, NC, passed away on June 6, 2011, at his home The family will receive friends at Providence Baptist Church in Harrisburg on Saturday, June 11, 2011 from 10:00am until 11:00am. The funeral service will follow at 11:00am at Providence Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Glenn Johnson with Rev. Rody Carland assisting. Burial will take place at a later date at Carolina Memorial Park in Harrisburg. Mr. Johnson was born in Mecklenburg County on April 24, 1932 to the late Horace Alvin Johnson, Sr. and the late Gladys Mae Moody Johnson. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Christene Perry Johnson of the home; sons, Rev. Glenn Johnson and wife Cindy of Conway, SC, Mike Johnson and wife Barbara of Parker, CO, Dan Johnson and wife Jan of Stallings, NC, Steve Johnson of Hunington Beach, CA and Scott Johnson of Palm Desert, CA, Jason Perry and wife Lori of Chapel Hill, NC, David Perry and wife Crystal of Chapel Hill NC, Russ Perry of Granite Falls, NC; daughters, Sheila Kirkpatrick and husband Johnny of Indian Trail, NC, Kellie Reinhart of La Quinta, CA, and Alyce Alexander and husband Dennis of Monroe, NC; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Harrisburg. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was also Mayor for 14 years in East Windsor, NJ and was a Food Chemist and Consultant.
