William Lewis, Jr

William Harrison Lewis, 91, of Harrisburg, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at his home with his loving family by his side. Mr. Lewis was born November 25, 1922 in Forsyth County to the late W.H. Lewis, Sr. and Ada Stanley Lewis. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Virginia Smith Lewis (10/27/2013); sister, Opal Dillard; and brother, J.B. Lewis. The family will recieve friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 1to 3pm. The memorial service will follow in the Chapel at 3pm. His granddaughter Patti St.Clair will officiate. At other times the family will be at the home of his son, Rick. Harrison was a retired supervisor of Butler and Sidbury in Charlotte. Served as Corporal in US Air Force in WWII, as an airplane and engine mechanic B-17 crew chief. Received American Theater Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal and was Honorably Discharged on February 25, 1946. Mr. Lewis thoroughly loved the outdoors, especially working with his blackberry vines and his garden. He loved traveling, especially with his wife and brother-in-law Bill. He is survived by an only son, Rickard "Rick" A. Lewis and wife Sylvia of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Patti St. Clair and Anthony Lewis; one great grandson, the light of his life, Christian Lee St. Clair all of Concord; three sisters, Ruby Hall (Henry) of Monroe, Mary Critz of Elizabeth City, and Betty Herbert of Kannapolis. The Lewis family would like extend a special thanks to Holly, Ellie, and Sylvia from Hospice of Cabarrus County; and also thank Sharon Hatley for her caregiving. Very special thank you to Patrick Ciucevich, a great neighbor and very close friend. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Hospice and Palliative care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Ln. Kannapolis, NC 28081. Hartsell Funeral Home is serving the Lewis family.
