William David McDaniel (Bill), 95, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Born on May 7, 1928, in Rock Hill, SC, he was the beloved son of John James and Beulah Rockholt McDaniel.
Bill was a devoted Christian who found solace in the pages of his Bible, spending countless evenings in study and reflection. He was a dedicated member of Plyler Baptist Church, where his commitment shone through as he taught a men's Sunday School class for many years. Prior to retirement, he served the State of North Carolina in the Department of Transportation, Division of Highways.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his cherished wife of 70 years, Deane, his son-in-law, Dickie Lowder, and siblings, Elizabeth Cameron, James, and Marion McDaniel.
He is survived by his daughter, Gayle Lowder of Albemarle, son Roger McDaniel and his wife Sue of Albemarle, grandson Christopher McDaniel and his wife Courtney of Estero, Florida; grandson Kellis Harwood of Albemarle; great-grandchildren London McDaniel of Concord, and Ariana and Hunter McDaniel of Estero, Florida, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2023, at Plyler Baptist Church. Funeral service to follow at 3pm at Plyler Baptist Church. Pastor Chuck Hensley will officiate, assisted by J.R. Drake.
