William Pixley

William Francis "Bill" Pixley, 87, of Concord, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, NC. He was born June 12, 1925 in Clark County, Indiana, the son of the late John William Pixley and Ruth Hoke Pixley. He is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita June Ray Pixley; his son, Gerald Lynn Pixley; his baby brother, Homer Pixley; his sisters, Audrey Gurnsey and Brenda Sue Pixley; and grandson, John Dwayne Pixley. Mr. Pixley served his country proudly in the United States Army as a Artillery Gunman. He served in Germany, France, and Australia, during World War II. He attended Washington County School of Pekin, Indiana. He was a mechanic by trade in the military and civilian at Walter Cook’s Garage of Salem, Indiana and a mechanic for Edsall Grove of Vero Beach, Florida. Mr. Pixley was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was loved and cherished by his family and friends. He attended Bethlehem Baptist Church of Concord, NC for 8 years and was a member of Bunker Hill Baptist Church in Salem, Indiana. He is survived by his three children; son, Larry William Pixley and wife Regina; daughters, Joyce Yvonne Helms and husband Ken, and Laura June Knight; seven grandchildren, Marie Cayo, Priss Raffaldt, Scott Helms, Gary Lou Pixley, Ruthanne Pixley, and Rusty Pixley; eleven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Pixley’s viewing will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord, NC on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 6 until 8 pm. Memorials may be made to The American Diabetes Association, P. O.
