William Shelton

William “Alfred” Shelton, of Concord, passed away Friday, October 14, 2011, at the age of 74, at Carolinas Medical Center – NorthEast of Concord. Mr. Shelton was born February 2, 1937, in Madison County, NC, to the late John William Shelton and Pearl Massey Shelton. He was a country boy at heart and was raised on the farm most of his life. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Judith Irene Swann Shelton, of the home; his son, John Shelton and his wife, Lynn, of Concord; his daughter, Megan Shelton Brooks and her husband, Marty, of Concord; grandchildren, Grace, Shelton, Laci, and Kyle; his sister, Mary Sue Porter, of Charlotte; and of course all the “Porter boys” as well as cousins, neighbors and friends. He was a husband, daddy, papaw, brother and uncle. He loved his family in his own way and could tell the best tale of anyone. All his friends and loved ones shared in his unique life and he will be truly missed. We thank God for all the memories that are imprinted in our minds that give each of us our own closeness and meaning to our relationship with “Alfie”. There will be a gathering of family and friends at the family home Tuesday, October 18, from 6 – 8 p.m., at 103 Softwind Land, Concord, NC, to share stories and celebrate his life here with us.
