William Arthur Simpler, 53 years of age, of Albemarle NC, changed his residence to Heaven surrounded by family on Wednesday August 16, 2023 at Glen A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury.
He was born on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 1969 in Belfast, Maine to Harry Hickman Simpler and Marie Smith Simpler, who both preceded him in death.
William worked as an automobile painter at many locations over the years including many large dealerships. He taught many people his craft. He did some custom work for a Charlotte Panther, worked on the General Lee for the Dukes of Hazzard movie, and was offered a position with Nascar which he turned down due to not wanting to travel. He had a big heart, frequently providing work to others in his own shop, and was known for helping many out with car repairs they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to obtain. He was a master of his craft, well known in the industry, and much sought after for his expertise.
Known for being an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman, William was at his happiest in nature. He found his greatest peace there and had exceptional knowledge of all things related to it.
William was also known for his jovial nature. He loved laughter and had a wonderful sense of humor. Spending time with his family, having visitors, and grilling out for get togethers brought him great joy. He was a people person and loved being around them.
He was loved and cherished by many, unconditionally so by his entire family. William was an awesome father to the apple of his eye, his daughter Kayla. He was a friend to many. He loved animals, especially his dog Mack, who was completely devoted to him.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer Simpler, his daughter Kayla Simpler of Albemarle, a sister Stella Simpler Beeson, brother-in-law Jerry Beeson, nephew Victor Bercher of Mount Pleasant, and a half brother Don Simpler of Maryland and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday 8/25/23 from 6-9pm, and funeral services on Saturday at 1pm, both at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle, NC. Please join us in celebration of his life.
