Mr. William James "Bill" Skidmore, 76, of 506 Park Ridge Road, Albemarle, died Tuesday afternoon at 2:09 pm at CMC in Charlotte from heart complications. Bill was born January 26, 1937 to the late E. O. Skidmore and Lucille Skidmore in Mt. Gilead, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Isabel Frazier, and his brother, Pat Skidmore. He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny†Skidmore, and their children: son Eric Skidmore and wife, Trina of Albemarle; son Kevin Skidmore and wife, Ann of Mooresville; and daughter, Lisa Rhyne and husband, David of Clinton, TN. He is also survived by six granchildren: Lauren and Cameron Skidmore of Albemarle; Doug and Chris Skidmore of Mooresville; and Elizabeth and Charlie Rhyne of Clinton, TN. His grandchildren were the joy of his life. For over 25 years he watched them grow up and loved them through every moment as they did him. He enjoyed attending their many sporting events and school activities and was always a supportive and caring grandfather. Bill graduated from Mt. Gilead High School and attended N.C. State College. He was a computer programmer and data processing supervisor at Service Distributing for over 30 years. Bill was an active member of First Baptist Church, Albemarle, serving in the past as a deacon and serving on various committees. He served as an assistant scout master of Boy Scout Troop #524, sponsored by First Baptist Church. Family will be receiving at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Friday morning, May 3, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Albemarle. Dr. Jerry Haywood, Bill’s brother-in-law and Dr. Roger Thomas will conduct the service. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Cemetery in Albemarle. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church general fund, 202 North Second St. Albemarle, NC 28001; or charity of the donors choice. At other times, the family will meet at his home.
