William (Billy) Edward Stevens, Jr. was called to his Heavenly home while sleeping peacefully on March 27, 2024. He was born July 5, 1955, in Danville, Virginia but resided most of his young life in Hopewell, Virginia. He enjoyed his friendships, sports, and family. All three were very important to him and remained so during his entire life. He cherished his time spent with friends, football teammates, and family. For each and every one of you who reads this, you were a special part of his life.
Billy worked for Phillip Morris for 35 years, dedicating long hours to provide for his family and developing new friendships that lasted his lifetime. His free time during the years his two girls were growing up, was spent on the softball field coaching a new generation on the benefits of sports in life. No matter what he was doing, Billy continuously met new people and cherished their friendship from that point on.
Billy was preceded in death by his father, William Edward Stevens, Sr., mother, Edna Lee Stophel Stevens and sister, Rhonda Lee Stevens.
His departure left behind his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia Allen Stevens; two daughters, Christina (Jeff) Dement and Terica (Patrick) Gordon; his four grandchildren held a special place in his heart, all they had to do was ask Papaw, Kaylee, Mason, Harper Dement and Turner Barringer. He shared a close relationship with his brother, Curtis Stevens and his family. It was always about family with Billy. He also had several aunts, uncles, and cousins living in Eden, NC.
A private memorial will be held by the family in lieu of any service. Billy was a giver not a taker. He wants everyone to take this opportunity to give to someone else. Someone who could use some help. Just tell them ‘A good friend sent me.” No greater honor can be bestowed.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Stevens family.
