Worth Long

Worth Gene Long, 81 years of age, of Concord, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 10, 2015 from his home in Concord.

Worth was born August 15, 1934 in Cabarrus County, NC to the late Henry Jacob Long and the late Janie Mae McDonald Long.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, October 12, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Tuesday at 3:00 pm at Friendship United Methodist Church at 4695 Mt. Pleasant Road S, Concord, NC, officiated by Pastor Roger Armistead. Burial will follow at the Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery in Concord.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Louise Burris Long of the home; daughters Deborah Jean Long Lewis and husband Lynn, Cherry Lynn Long Noblitt and husband Robert, Tina Louise Long Fayne and husband Gary; sons Jeffrey Wayne Long and wife Margaret, Michael Worth Long, Philip Ashley Long; sister Bessie Mae Long Whitley; as well as seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great grand children, and another on the way.

Worth retired from Cannon Mill after more than thirty years of service. He enjoyed refinishing furniture and loved antiques. Worth was a very talented self-taught gunsmith. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. And he loved the Lord!
