Carra Simpson

Carra Midge Simpson, age 94, was surrounded by loved ones when she passed peacefully to the Lord at her home Wednesday morning. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Midland and was a weaver in textiles. She was born July 30, 1915 in Mecklenburg County, NC to the late Adam Paige and the late Bessie Haigler Paige. She is also preceded in death by her first husband LW Rush, second husband Everette Howard and third husband Vander S. Simpson. She is survived by her son Wayne Walter Rush and wife Brenda of Locust, two daughters Madge Tucker and husband Lane of Oakboro and Teresa Barbee and husband Bill of Locust. She had 5 grandchildren,12 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren and other extended family. The family expressed special thanks to Diana Coble, her caregiver, and Jenn and Janet of Hospice. Memorials are to be made out to Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Midland, Friday, September 4, 2009 at 4:00 PM with a 30 minute State. Rev. Thomas Gibbs officiating. The visitation will follow the burial at First Baptist Church.
