John Saunders

John Lewis Saunders, 80, of Lenoir, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022 at The Pearl of Fort Mill.

John was born June 11, 1942 in North Carolina to the late Jack Saunders and the late Lovina Hall Saunders.
He was also preceded in death by brother, Robert Saunders; sisters, Gladys Hardister and Geraldine Hopkins.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm, on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg, light refreshments will be served. The memorial service will follow on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg in the Jeff Hartsell Memorial Chapel officiated by Don Hardister.

Survivors include wife of 52 years, Shirley Saunders of the home; daughters, Amy Saunders and Cheryl Saunders; sister, Diane Spiegler; and many nieces and nephews.

John was an adventurous man who loved people and never met a stranger. He enjoyed fishing (especially Flounder gigging), cars and motorcycles, and working on various construction projects. John also cared for animals and rescued many cats. John liked to cook and was fond of family vacations at the beach.
