Ralph Thompson

Ralph Junior Thompson, 83, of Albemarle, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at his home in Albemarle.

Ralph was born February 14, 1937 in Stanly County to the late Cletus Aupus Thompson and Mary Lucy Huneycutt Thompson.  He was also preceded in death by his brother Carl Thompson and his sister Joyce Thompson Hughes.

Ralph proudly served his Country for four years as a Gunner's Mate Third Class in the United States Navy.

Survivors include wife, Gaynelle Thompson of Albemarle; brother, Walter Thomas Thompson of Albemarle; his children, Penny (Charlie) Efrid, Susan (Ricky) Beachum, Tommy Thompson, and Donny Thompson; 3 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was a loving husband, wonderful grandfather, and a great-grandfather. Ralph loved his cat Bonnie.  He loved his church, Landmark Baptist and was a faithful member as long as he was able.

Mr. Thompson will lie in state from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home, 522 North Second Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.  There will be a Private Graveside Service at Stanly Gardens of Memory.
