Thomas Archie Joyner, 90, of Midland died September 9, 2018 at Novant Health - Matthews.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Howell’s Baptist Church in Concord with a 30 minute state. The Rev. Gary Pinkley will officiate the service with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland.
Born April 24, 1928, in Cabarrus County, Archie was the son of the late John McCurdy Joyner and the late Lula Venore Layton Joyner. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Helen Jane Estridge Joyner; three sisters, Foy Kelly, Adele Polk, and Letha Estridge; and brothers, Frank Joyner and Norris Joyner. He is survived by a daughter, Judy Joyner Page and husband, Darrell Page of Midland and a son, Dennis Joyner and wife, Ruthi Cohen Joyner of Locust. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Andy Page of Charlotte; Kyle Page of Wilmington; and Leah Joyner and Jenna Joyner of Locust.
Archie was a lifelong, faithful member of Howell’s Baptist Church where he served as a past trustee, deacon and choir member. He was retired from Lance, Inc. in Pineville where he worked in multiple departments and enjoyed many years with the company. If you enjoy Lance crackers, he was proud to play a part in their production during his time with the company. He was a member of Union Lodge 618 of Midland for 68 years. Archie was an avid farmer, loved gospel music and raised and trained beagles for many years.
